Iolite is the gemstone representing the 21st wedding anniversary.  The name is derived from the Greek word ios, meaning "violet."  Iolite was thought to be the gemstone of clear vision.  It was believed to have the power to guide lost sailors to the brilliance of the sun in order to find their way home.
