Color-Change Garnet...

by Julie Lee of Julie's Jewelry Design, LLC.

Nature's miracles come in many forms:  perhaps one of the most enchanting is the intriguing color-change garnet.  You may recognize the green/purple-red color changes of alexandrite or the blue/purple color play of iolite, but few may be familiar with the spectacular appearance of the red to green-blue colors they'll find in natural color-change garnet.  Slightly green-blue in daylight and red-purple in incandescent light, color-change garnets are a shining addition to any gemstone jewelry collection.  Think of the compliments you can receive when you design a silver or gold jewelry piece with this rare and unique gem!

Color-change garnet is a pyrope-spesarite garnet "hybrid."  It portrays a wide variability in color behavior when viewed in daylight and incandescent light.  Color-change garnets from Jewelry by Julie's Jewels possess a moderate to intense color change.  The medium-tone colors in this interesting stone are attributed to the inclusion of chromium and vanadium.

Greeks named the garnet for its red color and seed-or grain-like shape.  All garnets-not just the red varieties- are birthstones for the month of January and astrological sign stones for Aquarius.

Garnets have always been ideal stone selections for moderate-to high-wear jewelry.  Their 7 to 7.5 Mohs hardness rating makes them a good choice for single-and multi-stone rings, earrings, pendants, and bracelet designs.  Eye-clean with a good cut rating, natural color-change garnets from Jewelry by Julie's Jewels are available in round, straight, baguette, emerald0cut, marquise, pear, square, trillion, and oval shapes in a range of sizes.  Garnets, in general, are well-known and well-liked gemstones; color-change garnets--with their dual-color phenomenon--are less recognized and scarcer in availability.

Jewelry by Julie's Jewels is offering you a great opportunity to bring a unique "new" gemstone option to your jewelry collection.  You might want to pair color-change garnets with pearls for a rich presentation, or combine them as accents with other gem varieties for an interesting creating that you stand out in your jewelry collection.

Call our friendly sales associate today to start creating a brand new jewelry piece with the gorgeous color-change garnet.  You'll be glad you did!
