Charles & Colvard moissanite is an uncommon combination of
science and art. It is a laboratory replication of a rare mineral
originally found in an ancient meteorite that crashed into earth thousands of
years ago.
In 1893 Dr. Henri Moissan, a French chemist and later a Nobel
Prize Winner, identified minute quantities of natural silicon carbide in the
Diablo Canyon meteorite found in a remote area of Arizona. In honor of Dr.
Moissan, it was named moissanite.
In 1995, a master diamond cutter observed samples of the silicon
carbide crystals and suggested to the founders of Charles & Colvard that
moissanite could make a beautiful jewel. Charles & Colvard recognized the
mineral's potential. Because there was no natural supply for this mineral,
moissanite would have to be manufactured as a lab-created gemstone.
Charles & Colvard moissanite has a fire, brilliance, and luster
unlike other jewels. Moissanite is harder than any other jewel, except
diamond. With very slight inclusions, moissanite's color is very slightly
tinted to near-colorless. A range of shapes and sizes are available.
Charles & Colvard created moissanite is a new category
in the jewelry industry. As such, Julie's Jewels is offering you a new
line of jewelry. Charles & Colvard created moissanite has a look like
no other. It has a fire, brilliance, luster, and hardness that can only
